Pediatric Speech Therapy Services
Evaluations
Teach Me Speech provides in-home speech and language evaluations in Waterford, WI, and beyond.
We’ll start with a parent interview to understand your concerns and review any records you choose to share. Then, we’ll complete observations and assessments to learn about your child’s speech sounds, language skills, attention, and play style. Once we get a clear picture of your child’s strengths and needs, we’ll work together to write meaningful goals for their therapy journey.
Following the evaluation, you will receive an in-depth written report summarizing our findings and recommendations for moving forward.

Speech sound therapy supports children who are difficult to understand because certain sounds are not clear yet. Your child may substitute sounds (like “wabbit” for “rabbit”) or use patterns that affect many words (like “tat” for “cat”).
Speech therapy will help your child:
Position their tongue, lips, and airflow to produce speech sounds correctly
Use sounds consistently in words and conversation
Communicate their thoughts and ideas more clearly
Reduce frustration around speech
Sessions are engaging and playful, using movement, games, and storytelling to help your child build clearer speech and greater confidence.
-
If your child has Childhood Apraxia of Speech, they may have trouble putting sounds together or speaking clearly and consistently. This is because their brain has difficulty planning the motor movements needed for speech. Our sessions focus on practicing specific sound patterns over and over, gradually building more complex words and phrases.
Speech therapy will help your child:
Produce sounds, syllables, and words clearly and consistently
Use natural prosody (speech rhythm and stress patterns)
Reduce frustration when speaking
Confidently say what they want to say
-
Does your child have difficulty understanding what others say, expressing their own thoughts, or navigating social interactions? We’ll build communication skills through play, storytelling, and intentional movement to help them share ideas, connect with others, and participate in everyday activities.
Language therapy will help your child:
Understand directions and questions
Communicate their needs, thoughts, and ideas more clearly
Expand vocabulary, grammar, and sentence length
Tell stories and participate in conversations
Build friendships and socialize with confidence
-
Does your child repeat sounds or words (such as “b-b-b-ball”), stretch out sounds (like “ssssun”), or get stuck when trying to start a word? Our goal is help them speak comfortably, easily, and confidently— so that they continue to enjoy talking!
Stuttering therapy will help your child:
Speak with less tension
Say what they want to say
Feel positive about their speech
Share their ideas and connect with others more easily
Our sessions help children practice speaking in a natural, supportive way through conversation, storytelling, games, and play-based activities.
-
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) helps children communicate when speech is difficult or still developing. AAC can include picture boards, communication books, or speech-generating devices such as tablets that produce spoken words.
AAC therapy will use tools and strategies to help your child:
Express their wants, needs, ideas, and feelings more independently
Feel less frustrated
Connect with others
Engage more fully at home, school, and in the community
AAC does NOT hinder speech development. In many cases, it actually helps by giving them a reliable way to communicate as their speech skills develop. AAC gives children a voice!

Meet Your Speech Therapist
Jessica Hoppa, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
Hi, I’m Jessica! I’m a pediatric speech therapist in Waterford, WI, with 25+ years of experience. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1999 and my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. I established Teach Me Speech in 2016 because I truly love helping children grow into confident, independent communicators.
At Teach Me Speech, I use purposeful movement and hands-on activities to build speech, language, and cognitive skills all at once. My action-packed sessions will make your child feel like they’re just playing while they’re actually doing the hard work of reaching their communication goals!
I’m also committed to supporting families with education, strategies, and home programs to help them turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. I’ll be with you to celebrate every small victory and to problem-solve challenges you’re facing.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, doing Pilates, trying new restaurants, cheering on my sons, and walking my labradoodles, Cooper and Clemson. I look forward to learning about your family!

Families receive a written report with recommendations based on the results and family goals.
-
Sessions incorporate evidence-based methods within engaging activities and include time for parent coaching and ideas for practice at home.
